If there is anything Chicagoans crave most during these long winter months, it’s warm comfort food accompanied by good company…and that’s just what the Sobremesa dinner is about! Without fail, every person’s eyes lit up when I mentioned where I was shooting photos this past weekend and immediately followed with, “When’s the next one!?”

Sobremesa is a global dinner series by Sunday Suppers.

“This meal is inspired by harmony and balance in a winter season. When the elements are cold and intense outside, we turn inwards for warmth and comfort. This meal offers a delicate approach to balance. We seek foods that are nurturing and warming, but still delicate and graceful. We pair a rich meal with refreshing elements as an ode to the balance between light and dark. “ -Sunday Suppers

The very talented and gracious hosts for the Chicago location was Myndi DeVore and Fran Knechel, along with their sous chefs (husbands) both by the name of Charlie. Having more in common than their partner’s names, Myndi and Fran have found a passion for cooking incredible meals together for their families, friends and now, the lucky guests who sign up for their Sobremesa dinners. This winter meal marked No.3 for this lovely duo and we can only hope it won’t be the last!
